Port Stephens croquet players compete in NSW GC Women’s Open Singles Championship – News Of The Area

THE NSW GC Women’s Open Singles Championship was played at Tempe from 9 to 11 April.

12 players entered and played a round robin preliminary round before the top 8 played knock-out quarter finals.

Sandy Tawa from Nelson Bay Croquet Club won 4 games in the round-robin but lost a play-off for 8th place to Jill Sullivan (Sutherland).

As a result, Sandy played in the Plate competition which she won undefeated, beating Nerida Taylor (Toronto) 7-4 7-3 and Roslyn Johnstone (Sutherland) 7-4 7-5.

Pam Barnwell (Newcastle National Park but also a member at Nelson Bay) won 6 games in the round-robin and went on to beat Elizabeth Montague (Killara) 7-2 7-6 in the quarter final before losing…
